As the sweltering heat of summer descends upon Louisiana, citizens in need will soon find some respite through a generous initiative aimed at providing fans to those who cannot afford them. Michael and Chequella Walker, founders of the Walker Holding Group, have announced an upcoming fan drive scheduled for July 4, from 10 AM to 3 PM at 112 W. Roosevelt Drive in Minden.
The fan drive aims to address the urgent need for cooling appliances during the scorching summer months, particularly for individuals and families who are facing financial hardships. With local weather forecasts predicting an exceptionally hot week ahead, the Walkers are taking proactive measures to ensure the well-being and comfort of their fellow citizens.
“Citizens are asked to donate new box fans or make monetary contributions towards purchasing fans,” said Michael Walker, speaking about the initiative. “The goal is to gather as many fans as possible, which will then be distributed to those in need throughout the Louisiana summer months.”
This fan drive comes at a critical time when extreme temperatures can have serious implications for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, young children, and individuals with health conditions. By providing cooling relief, the Walkers hope to alleviate discomfort and promote the well-being of the community as a whole.
