Webster Parish graduates awarded scholarships by Sheriff Parker

Sheriff Jason Parker recently awarded eight scholarships to outstanding graduates in Webster Parish, presenting them to local students who have been recognized for their academic achievements and community involvement. This year’s recipients are Makayla Boyce, Hunter Evans, Leigha Kenton-Gilbert, Chelsie Hampton, Peyton Handy, Devin Harris, Preston Pope, and McKenzie Chase.

“This is our way of congratulating these students for what they have achieved and in some small way to help them as they take the next step in their lives,” Parker said. “We are proud to be able to give these scholarships to deserving young people who can make this a better world.”

Now in its fifth year, the scholarship program reflects the Sheriff’s commitment to investing in the future of Webster Parish youth.

“This is a program I feel very strongly about,” Parker said. “Each year we set aside what we can to fund these scholarships and help our young people. We hope this helps them achieve their dreams.”
