Funeral services will be held for Mr. William Albert “Al” Doggett Jr., 84, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Homer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m.
Mr. Doggett was born Dec. 9, 1931 in Gilbertown, Chocktaw County, Alabama to Ethel Gilbert and William Albert Doggett Sr. He entered into rest on Monday, March 28, 2016 in Homer. Mr. Doggett was a graduate of Homer High School, and then attended LSU from 1951 to 1954 where he played football. Mr. Doggett worked for and retired from Exxon as a truck driver. He loved hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Mr. Doggett was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Brenda Kay Doggett.
He is survived by his son, Richard “Dickey” Doggett and wife Theresa of Livingston; two grandchildren, Kelly Taylor and husband Jonathan and Michael Doggett; four great-grandchildren, Molly, Parker, Corbin and Maddox; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
