Willie Christell Day Harris-Taylor, 83, was granted her Angel wings on May 31, 2016, with her sister by her side.

She was born July 12, 1932, in Minden to Grace and Andrew Day.

She was an active member of Bible Center Church until she was no longer able to attend.

Her favorite scripture was “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,” she would say it often.

Her interests included family, friends, bowling, sewing, cooking, and catering to all her grands.

Christell better known as “Big” is survived by her sister, Aline Estell Halligan; brother, Curtis Thomas White; her five children, Carolyn Harris- Hawkins, Cheryl Harris, Chanda Harris-Williams, Charles Harris, and Chrisetta Harris-Clark. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her mother Grace Day, father Andrew Day, brothers, Bobby White, Audrey Day and Obie Day, brother-in-law, Levy Halligan, Sister-in-law Irene Day, and granddaughter, Catoya Nicole Harris.

Visitation will be Friday, June 3 in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with family hour from 8 until 9 p.m. Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Homegoing celebration services for Willie Christell “Big” Harris Taylor will be held Saturday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at the St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Williams, officiating. Interment will follow at the Sheppard Street Cemetery.
