Lakeside going for upset against Calvary Baptist

by Minden Press-Herald

The Lakeside Warriors have a tough task this Friday. Many have tried and only one has succeeded. That would be beating the Calvary Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers have a very talented team with several top prospects at the skill positions, led by quarterback Shea Patterson.

Head coach Joey Pesses looks forward to the challenge.

“Practice has been alright,” Pesses said. “We went back and looked at some things. Instead of spending a bunch of time this week working on different schemes we’re just going to focus on improving on some of technique and skills.”

The Warriors will need their technique and skill to be at their best to compete with Calvary.
Calvary’s only loss of the season was to undefeated 5A Byrd and last week they defeated Lakeview 68-6.

“They’re a solid program year in and year out,” Pesses said. “They have exceptional players at quarterback, running back and receiver spots. We’re going to get a lot of kids in the game and do the best we can.”

Pesses went on to say improvement was the goal for this game.

“We play each week to get better,” Pesses said. “There’s places we’re looking to get better this week. That’s our ultimate goal in every game.”

The Warriors and Cavaliers kick off in Shreveport at 7 p.m.
