Active warrants lead to Ecstasy, marijuana charges

A Minden man was arrested in the parking lot of McDonald’s on two drug charges and active warrants. Joshua Shakur Montgomery, 24, of Slack Street was booked on charges of possession of Schedule 1 CDS (Ecstasy) and Schedule 1 CDS (natural marijuana.)

According to police reports, Minden police were dispatched to McDonald’s on Homer Road in reference to a subject with active warrants.

Upon arrival, Minden Police made contact with Montgomery, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. A deputy from the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office was also on the scene.

Police made contact with Montgomery and detained him while confirming outstanding warrants. Montgomery then allegedly tried to shut the door and fanned police with air from the inside of the vehicle which had a strong odor of burnt marijuana.

Police asked for consent to search, but Montgomery said the vehicle belonged to his girlfriend, who was working inside McDonald’s.

At that point, police say a black female approached and claimed she was the vehicle’s owner. After asking for the registration to confirm ownership, the female entered the passenger side of the vehicle. Police saw what they believed to be a sandwich bag with Ecstasy in it. Police told the female to step back and they collected the bag with eight pills in it. The pills would later test positive for Ecstasy (Hylene Dioxymethamphetamine).

Montgomery confirmed all the drugs were his. He was transported to the Minden Police Department where he was placed in a holding cell awaiting transfer to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
