16th Annual Pack the Bus a big success

The Webster Parish School Board held its 16th Annual Pack the Bus supply drive on July 26 in Minden and July 27 in Springhill. The donations gathered play a crucial role in helping students start the upcoming school year with the necessary supplies.

“Pack the Bus was a success again this year. Close to $1,000 was raised for the event and over half of the bus was packed with supplies. We are appreciative of the support and look forward to servicing our students next Sunday,” said Community Liaison Ursula Hullaby.

Supplies will be distributed at the Back to School Bash on Sunday, August 4, from 3 PM to 6 PM at Webster Jr. High School in Minden and the CAC Building in Springhill.

The Back to School Bash will feature supplies, clothes, raffles, games, snacks, and entertainment. The first 50 students will receive a free Back to School Bash t-shirt. For the first time since COVID restrictions were lifted, ten barbers will be at Webster Jr. High School to provide free standard haircuts for students pre-K through 12th grade. Haircuts will be provided by Woo’s Barber and Style Shop and Boss Man Barber College. Organizers aim to create a memorable event where students can reconnect with friends and meet dedicated teachers and administrators.

The Pack the Bus initiative continues to demonstrate the community’s commitment to supporting local students, ensuring they have the tools needed for a successful school year. It’s not too late to contribute to this event. For more information, contact Mrs. Hullaby at (318) 377-7052. The first day of school for public school in Webster Parish will be Friday, August 9.
