by Amber McDown

Nonprofit 22 Hands Up will host a free Health and Fire Safety Seminar on March 21 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Minden Recreation Complex, 1001 Recreation Drive.

The seminar is designed for youth ages 11-18 and will feature presentations on general health, career pathways, and emergency response skills. Refreshments will be served.

Dr. Michael Ulrich of Minden Medical Center will discuss general health topics and careers in the medical field. CPR and first aid training will be provided by Tommie Woods of the Ruston Fire Department.

The event is part of 22 Hands Up’s ongoing mission to empower youth through education, life skills training and community engagement. The organization serves young people in Webster, Claiborne, and Bienville parishes, with programming focused on financial literacy, mentorship, leadership development and overall wellness.

Based in Minden, 22 Hands Up works with youth ages 10 to 18, particularly those who are at risk or underserved. In addition to educational workshops and seminars, the nonprofit hosts community outreach initiatives and fundraising events to reinvest in local youth programs.

Parents or guardians who wish to register a participant for the March 21 seminar may contact Darrell Hampton at (318) 268-2223.
