Four local persons who allegedly decided to move uninvited into a vacant residence in the 1400 block of Shreveport Road now find themselves invited to stay in the custody of law enforcement for a while.

One count each of simple burglary has been filed against Gerald Beene, 58; Eric O’Brien, 38; and Madalyn McKee, 28. Beene and O’Brien list addresses in Minden while McKee shows a home address in the 2800 block of Linda Lane in Shreveport, Minden Chief of Police Steve Cropper said.

A variety of charges have been levied against the fourth individual arrested, 43-year-old Michael Kevin Downs, who lists a home address in the 400 block of Fincher Road. Cropper said Downs is charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Sch. IV (Tramadol), simple burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cropper said officers dispatched to the Shreveport Road address last Wednesday found the four individuals apparently living inside the residence without the homeowner’s knowledge or permission. During a search, the officers reportedly found a glass smoking pipe containing a residue commonly associated with methamphetamine, the chief said.

“A couple of feet away from the pipe, officers saw a red decorative metal box containing several baggies with a hard crystal-like substance inside,” Cropper said. “Further investigation uncovered a baggie containing two orange-like pills, later identified as a schedule four narcotic, Tramadol.”

Cropper said Downs advised officers that all the narcotics were his and was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
