During the Webster Parish Fair, 4-H members showed off the animals they raised and their skills at showmanship. The second day’s competition was for swine. Members competed in two age divisions for showmanship and then by weight division in the market swine competition.
The showmanship competition allows the competitors to show-off their knowledge of the animals they have raised and the breed standards for that specific breed.
In the Class 1 division for ages 16 and up, Clara Robinson took 1st place, Abby Caraway took 2nd place, and Jayden Rester took 3rd place.
In the Class 2 division for ages 13 to 15, Zander Thompson took 1st place, Meredith Robinson took 2nd place, Levi DeHart took 3rd place, and Tucker Downs took 4th place.
Champion Swine Showman was awarded to Zander Thompson, and Reserve Champion Swine Showman was awarded to Clara Robinson.
The Market Swine Class is divided by weight and judged on the swine’s traits such as muscle mass, leanness, structural soundness, and readiness for the market.
In the Class 1 division for swine weighing 190-195 lbs, Tucker Downs took 1st place and Abby Caraway took 2nd place.
In the Class 2 division for swine weighing 205-210 lbs, Zander Thompson took 1st place and Levi DeHart took 2nd place.
In the Class 3 division for swine weighing 240-245 lbs, Zander Thompson took 1st place and 3rd place, Jayden Rester took 2nd place and 4th place, and Clara Robinson took 5th place.
In the Class 4 division for swine weighing 260-265 lbs, Zander Thompson took 1st place and Meredith Robinson took 2nd place.
The Grand Champion Market Swine was awarded to Zander Thompson, and Reserve Champion Market Swine was awarded to Meredith Robinson
