50 Entrants signed up for MLK Parade this Saturday

While they weren’t able to hold the MLK Day Parade on MLK Day this year, delaying the event due to rising COVID cases, that didn’t stop the MLK Celebration Committee, who have set a new date for the MLK Day Parade for this weekend Feb. 19, starting at 11 am. Michael Walker, Co-Chair of the MLK Celebration Committee, was happy to announce that the parade will have 50 entrants with bands from Minden, Shreveport, and Bastrop Louisiana participating.

The event will also be hosting eight vendors and seven community service tables which can be visited by event-goers, accompanied with music supplied by live DJ Trey Oliver. The MLK Celebration Committee will also be giving out five scholarships at the event to students nominated from the community, judged for their academic prowess and community.

“We will have something going on for the whole family,” said Michael Walker. “Please come out to help us keep MLK’s dream alive, and also to help us celebrate Black history. On behalf of the MLK Celebration Committee, we would like to thank everyone that played a part in putting this on.”
