Webster High School Class of 1973 is finalizing plans to celebrate their 50th Class Reunion. “We believe the selected theme, 50 Years – Back Together Again – 2023, will allow us to focus on reconnecting and celebrating a 3-day reunion weekend of fun and fellowship from Friday, September 15th – Sunday, September 17, 2023,” according to Gary Jiles, Sr., reunion chairman.
Committees have worked hard to plan and implement events that will be both enjoyable and memorable for this momentous occasion-The Big 50! Scheduled events will begin on Friday, September 15th with registration, get acquainted games, food, beverages, music, and dancing at the Forestry Building.
On Saturday, September 16th, the banquet committee will showcase some of the many talents of our classmates at the Minden Civic Center from 6:00 PM – midnight. According to Essie Webb Dillard, banquet committee chair, “We have selected blue, white, and gold decorations and attire to represent the historical significance of this occasion.” The evening will begin with a reception followed by the main program. The program agenda will feature a dinner, musical selections, and recognition of classmates including class veterans, as well as a memorial recognition for deceased class members. An update on Webster High School Legacy Project will also be presented. Mayor Nicholus A. Cox will issue a Proclamation proclaiming the week of September 10 – 16, 2023 as “Webster High School Class of 1973 50th Class Reunion Week.” The guest speaker will be our renowned physics and chemistry teacher, Mrs. Ruby Musgrow. The evening will end with group photos, toasting, and dancing with music from the ‘70s. Lester Scott and Linda Sparks Hudson will be MCs.
On Sunday, September 17th, church service will be at St. Rest Baptist Church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. After church, a visit to the hallowed grounds of Webster High School will feature a balloon launch from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A going away party will also be held on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
