The 6th Annual Duck Derby Extravaganza will take place in downtown Minden on Sunday, June 30, offering a day of fun for the whole family. The event will feature food vendors, face painting, jump houses, music, and the highlight of the day, the Duck Derby race.

The tentative schedule is as follows:
- 5:00 PM: Kids area opens; Duck Derby tickets go on sale
- 5:30 PM: Line up for the children’s parade begins in front of Capital One on Main Street
- 5:45 PM: Children’s parade begins
- 6:20 PM: Kid’s watermelon seed spitting competition
- 6:35 PM: Hula hoop competition
- 6:50 PM: Water balloon toss competition
- 7:15 PM: “Celebrity” food eating competition
- 7:35 PM: Duck Derby races begin
- 8:15 PM: Dance contests
- 9:00 PM: Fireworks
Prizes for the Duck Derby include $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. Ducks can be purchased at $5 for one racing duck, $20 for a Quack Pack of five ducks, $50 for a Quacker’s Dozen of 12 ducks, and $100 for a Flock of Ducks (25 ducks).
