Kennedy announces $7 million in Hurricane Ida aid for southeast Louisiana

by Minden Press-Herald

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today that Louisiana will receive $7,044,721 in federal disaster aid through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“These funds will go a long way in helping communities like Lafourche Parish, New Orleans, and Dulac continue to recover from the lasting effects of Hurricane Ida,” said Kennedy. “This $7 million will support critical repairs to local schools and recreational facilities that serve our families and students.”

The FEMA grants will be distributed as follows:

  • $4,262,342 to Terrebonne Parish Recreation District #4 for repairs to the Grand Caillou Recreation Center in Dulac.
  • $1,643,621 to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans to restore the Mater Campus Education Building.
  • $1,138,758 to the Lafourche Parish School Board for repairs to athletic facilities at South Lafourche High School.

The funding supports ongoing recovery efforts in southeast Louisiana, where many public spaces remain in need of repair years after Hurricane Ida’s devastation.
