Speaker Johnson Applauds Trump’s First 100 Days

by Minden Press-Herald

WASHINGTON, D.C. — At this morning’s weekly House Republican Leadership press conference, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson strongly praised former President Donald Trump’s first 100 days back in office, calling the administration’s accomplishments “historic” and sharply contrasting them with what he described as partisan distractions from Congressional Democrats.

“President Trump has accomplished more in the first 100 days than most presidents do in their entire careers,” Johnson said. “The Atlantic — which is no fan of his — even described him as ‘the most consequential American leader of the 21st century.’ And that’s an understatement.”

Johnson listed a series of policy actions taken by the Trump administration, including the elimination of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in federal agencies and the military, increased domestic energy production, and efforts to remove men from women’s sports. He also cited actions on trade, religious liberty, and antisemitism as examples of a robust policy agenda already underway.

On immigration, Johnson highlighted a stark change in approach. “The Trump administration has stopped illegal border crossings with a 99.9% success rate,” he stated, claiming that over 100,000 illegal aliens and gang members have been deported. “There’s a new sheriff in town due to President Trump’s border policies. We now know again that deterrence works.”

The Speaker also emphasized Trump’s impact on the economy, specifically inflation. “President Trump promised to rapidly drive down prices and make American goods affordable again,” Johnson said. “The Consumer Price Index beat expectations and actually dropped 0.1% in March — the first time that’s happened since COVID.”

As Trump’s second term begins to take shape, Johnson’s remarks signal strong Republican unity behind the former president’s agenda and a renewed push to highlight contrasts between the Trump and Biden administrations.
