Minden said goodbye to Retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Canvas Friday.
She was given a hometown procession just like any fallen member of the military with honor, dignity and the support of the Minden community.

RIP Canvas. All dogs go to Heaven. Meet me at the gates with Libby.
You served our country bravely Sgt. Canvas. You’ve earned your rest.
So sweet…………….thank you for your service………..RIP!!!
RIP Sgt. Canvas, thank you for your service.
🙁 Being the owner of 10 dogs and many more that have gone on to Rainbow Bridge, I understand the feeling of loss when one of our furry companions leaves us. Thanks Cpl Mosely and your companion Sgt Canvas for your service and sacrifice.
So sad, but glad that remarkable dog has no more pain. His family made a difficult but loving decision on his behalf. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Moselys.
There is a pet cemetery down by the Bistineau Dam called Heavenly Acres for Pets. The people that run it are very kind compassionate so if you don’t find a suitable resting place for this fallen soldier consider contacting them. What a wonderful idea getting the Patriot Guard Riders to participate. Having to put a friend and companion down is a tough job and it is painful but you are to be commended for making a tough choice and putting this noble animal out of its misery.
