Girls, Gigabytes and Gadgets event to be held June 7

BATON ROUGE, LA—Louisiana District 15 State Senator Regina Barrow in partnership with Southern University and the Louisiana Technology Park to host an inspiring hands-on event designed to ignite interest and engagement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) among middle and high school girls. The Girls, Gigabytes and Gadgets event will be held on June 7, 2025, beginning at 9am at the P.B.S. Pinchback Hall on the campus of Southern University of Baton Rouge.

Girls, Gigabytes, and Gadgets aims to empower young women to explore the exciting world of technology and innovation. The event will feature interactive workshops, coding challenges, robotics demonstrations, and inspiring talks from women leaders in STEM fields. Grade school aged girls from all over Louisiana will engage science experiments as well as hear from speakers regarding cyber safety. The event is designed with one simple message in mind: girls and women are not just to be users of technology, but creators, designers and influencers as well.

“It is vital that we encourage girls to pursue their passions in STEM,” said State Senator Regina Barrow, President Pro Tempore of the Louisiana State Senate. “Girls, Gigabytes, and Gadgets is designed to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning that will prepare them for future success in these vital fields, especially young women of color who are underrepresented in these fields.”

This event is free and open to all girls in middle and high school. Limited spaces are available and registration is required.
