by Minden Press-Herald

Minden – This morning, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded  to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 near U.S. Highway 371. The crash claimed the life of 58-year-old  Christopher Hatfield of Sarepta.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Hatfield, was traveling  east on Interstate 20. For reasons still under investigation, Hatfield’s vehicle exited the roadway and collided with  a median guardrail.

Hatfield, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash, sustained severe injuries and was  transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Impairment is not suspected; however,  standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers urge all motorists to make responsible decisions while operating a motor vehicle. For motorcycle riders,  enrolling in an approved safety course can significantly improve both riding skills and awareness on the road.
