Karen’s Korner: Council on Aging

by Minden Press-Herald

Karen’s Korner,

For the past three weeks, I have been sharing helpful hints concerning the upcoming summer heat and humidity. I hope they have been helpful to each of you. Here, at the Webster Parish Council on Aging, we try to keep up with the latest trends, helpful information, and education for all our seniors!

As you know, the Council on Aging is a private, non-profit organization, chartered by the state in 1960. Funds for the services are obtained from Federal, State, local services, and contributions received from the participants in the program. These donations are placed back into the programs to extend and improve the services.

In addition to providing direct services to the seniors of Webster Parish, age 60 and above, we promote and help to maximize independent living by:

*  Keeping abreast of the many developments in the field of aging.

*  Addressing the unique concerns and needs of senior adults.

*  Providing information about senior adults to other agencies, other governmental bodies, and the community.

*  Serving as “watchdogs” for development in the lives of senior adults.

*  Giving preferences to senior adult clients who are economically and socially needy.

The Webster Council on Aging is located at 1482 Sheppard Street, in Minden, Louisiana. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm! Our telephone number is 318-371-3056.
