Jan Biles Randolph

by Minden Press-Herald

Jan Biles Randolph, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born and raised in Minden, Louisiana, Jan shared her early years with her twin brother, James Biles. She attended Louisiana Tech University, where she pursued a path in education. Her talents and dedication led to a teaching opportunity in Houma, Louisiana, a move that would change her life in the best way. It was there she met the love of her life, Amos Randolph, who she lovingly called Buckie.

While she began her career in the classroom, Jan ultimately found her true calling at home, raising their three children, and later her two grandchildren, while Amos worked offshore. She poured her heart into their children and grandchildren, always present, from early morning practices to late-night pageants, cheering them on every step of the way. Her 59-year marriage to Amos was a true partnership, marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the family they built together.

Inheriting her creative heart from her father who was a brilliant photographer, Jan had a passion for gardening and home remodeling, always finding fulfillment in making her surroundings more beautiful. Over the past year, she found joy in planning her dream sunroom, a peaceful retreat she imagined down to the last detail. Though it was never built, the vision reflected her warmth, creativity, and enduring optimism. When it was time to relax, her happy place was on a dock fishing, in her later years Jan would get lost in mystery novels, watch home remodeling shows on HGTV where she’d get inspiration for her own home remodeling endeavors.

Jan is survived by her loving husband, Amos Randolph, and their three children: David Randolph, Dana Benoit and husband Johnny, and Steven Randolph and wife Kelly. She was the proud grandmother of Jocelyn Randolph and husband Rafael Aguinaga, Jacob Randolph, John Austin Benoit, Mackenzie Randolph, Katelyn Benoit, Braden Randolph, and Emerson Randolph, and a cherished great-grandmother to Helios Aguinaga-Randolph. She is also survived by her twin brother, James “Jim” Biles, and his wife, Hilary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary “Rupert” Biles and James Caric Biles.

A celebration of her life will be held July 13th at 2:00 pm, Del Webb Sweetgrass (Lakehouse), 707 Del Webb Blvd., Richmond, TX  77469. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Jan by planting something beautiful in your garden or taking time to make your house feel more like home, just as she always did.
