A Minden man was arrested in the early morning hours of July 13 after officers discovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a routine patrol stop.
According to the Minden Police Department, the arrest occurred around 2:14 AM while an officer was patrolling the Lee Street area following a shots fired complaint. While driving near Sheppard Street, the officer observed a male and a female carrying black trash bags and walking near several closed businesses. The pair reportedly made eye contact with the patrol unit and then increased their walking pace through a nearby parking lot.
The female subject reportedly began shouting and gesturing toward the male subject in front of a local business, prompting the officer to initiate a Terry stop. A second officer arrived shortly after.
The male subject, later identified as Brett Woodard, 40, initially denied any altercation and said the two were walking home to Constable Street. Officers noted the pair had been walking in the opposite direction.
Woodard consented to a pat-down search after being asked about any weapons or sharp objects. He disclosed that he had a capped needle in his pocket, which officers removed with his permission. A second syringe was later discovered in Woodard’s back pocket, and a third was found inside a cigarette pack retrieved from his shirt pocket.
Officers also found a plastic cellophane wrapper containing a white, crystal-like substance. When asked about it, Woodard allegedly responded, “It looks like meth man.” A field test confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 0.08 grams.
Woodard was arrested without incident and transported to the Minden Police Department, where he was booked on one count of Prohibited Acts (Schedule II) and one count of Drug Paraphernalia.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
