Organizer Tamerion Phenix will host his third annual Back to School drive on Tuesday, July 29, at Abraham’s Food Mart, 1707 S. Talton Street, beginning at 10 AM. Supplies will be distributed until they are gone.
Phenix said he hopes to serve even more students than he did last year.
“I am very happy to say this is our 3rd annual Back to School drive, and we hope to beat our record from last year and are able to serve more than 70 kids. Our goal this year is at least 80,” Phenix said.
Phenix is accepting donations through Monday, July 28. Contributions can be dropped off at 604 Wood Street in Minden. Needed items include pencils, paper, pens, crayons, markers, colored pencils, notebooks, folders, tape, glue, erasers, staplers, calculators, backpacks, Clorox wipes, dry erase markers, highlighters and other standard school supplies.
Backpacks will be filled with donated supplies and given to local children during the July 29 event. For more information, Phenix can be contacted at 318-268-2482.
