Sarah Hudson Pierce: Having someone to pray with, and for, you is precious

by Minden Press-Herald

I called my dear friend, Nancy Ham Selvidge, at midnight because I knew she would pick up her phone and I know she believes in prayer. I knew her at Harding university in Searcy in 1966 but I was too shy to really talk to her and have only seen her once since then but I will always remember the glow on her face that comes from within.

Her husband, Don, and Nancy live in Mattoon, Illinois which is close to where my dad was born in 1895.

They are a precious  couple.

You might know this isn’t the first time I’ve called her that late at night.

My oldest son must be made out of the same cloth as his mom.

Having been born in 1948 in the backwoods of Arkansas we rode to town in a horse wagon. My parents never owned a car.

Long story short he is coming to Louisiana in a truck so he could haul some things to his cabin in Arkansas.

Well anyway he got turned around and ended up in the night mare traffic in New York City.

I had asked him to post me along the way which gave me a panic attack and a reason to call Nancy, my prayer partner.

As you can guess Nancy picked up her phone and immediately prayed for him out loud.

Within minutes Perry sent me a text letting me know he had gotten out of NYC and is on his way home to Louisiana.

All I can say is praise the Lord for answered prayer.

I know Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He gets me to the right place at the right time.  I continually thank God for answered prayer.
