As the 2025-26 school year approaches, Webster Parish Schools have revised their district-wide cell phone policy to comply with Louisiana Act 313. The updated policy, which took effect June 2, applies to all schools across the parish.
Under the new guidelines, students are prohibited from using personal electronic devices — including cell phones — during school hours unless otherwise authorized. School-issued Chromebooks remain the only approved devices for instructional use.
If a student’s device is seen or heard during the school day, it will be confiscated and turned in to the front office. A parent or guardian must retrieve the device in person. The policy notes that refusal to surrender a device will be considered willful disobedience and addressed according to disciplinary procedures.
School officials also clarified that they are not responsible for any electronic devices that are lost, stolen, or damaged while on school property.
The first day of school for students is Monday, August 11.
