McClanahan Park reopens with new restroom in Dixie Inn

by Amber McDown

The Village of Dixie Inn held a grand re-opening for McClanahan Park this week, celebrating recent upgrades that include the addition of a public restroom.

Mayor Donna Hoffoss said the project had been in the works for years, with delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. She credited former Mayor Kay Stratton for starting the project and engineer Brad Graff for bringing it to completion. Hoffoss noted that securing bids for such a small-scale project was difficult.

“We’re just glad to be here celebrating the improvements and enhancements going on in Dixie Inn,” said Greater Minden Chamber President Stephanie Barnett.

The new single family-style restroom has enough space to accommodate a stroller inside and will be open during park hours, generally until sunset.

McClanahan Park has been part of Dixie Inn since the 1940s, when the land was donated for public use.

The village will host a back-to-school bash at the park tomorrow night.
