High school football: Glenbrook routs Magnolia School of Excellence

by Russell Hedges

The Glenbrook Apaches rolled to a 62-6 victory over Magnolia School of Excellence in their season opener Friday night at home.

Glenbrook led 42-6 at the half and a running clock was used in the second.

Head Coach Greg Tibbitt coached his first game at Glenbrook since leading the Apaches in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The Apaches went into the game a big favorite. Magnolia is coming off an 0-9 season.

But Tibbitt wasn’t as much concerned with the Mariners as he was with evaluating how his team performed for the first time in a new system.

“The biggest thing was, new system and everything, I feel like we executed the things that we needed to do,” he said. “It wasn’t perfect by any means but I feel like our kids executed. I feel like we played really well on both sides of the ball. So that’s all you can ask for this time of year for sure.”

Six Apaches scored touchdowns. Ryan Reagan, Darron Hollingsworth and Gage White scored two each.

Holden Williams, Connor Bolton and Carson Whitehead scored one apiece.

Glenbrook hosts Bossier Friday. The Apaches will try to avenge last season’s 28-9 loss to the Bearkats.

Bossier routed North Caddo 63-25 in its season opener at Bossier.
