High school cross country: Glenbrook’s Clemons, Doyline’s Moreno post high finishes in boys regional meets

Glenbrook’s Trent Clemons and Doyline’s Zachary Moreno posted high finishes in their respective regional meets Thursday.

The Region I, Division IV and V meets were held at the South Bossier Recreational Complex.

Clemons finished sixth in the Region IV boys race. He covered the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 45.30 seconds. Cedar Creek’s Luke Alexander won in 15:55.10.

Moreno finished sixth in the Division V race in 19:08.30. Simpson’s John Bickel won in 17:19.40.

Neither Glenbrook nor Doyline fielded full boys teams, but by finishing in the top 25 Clemons and Moreno both qualified for the LHSAA State Meet Nov. 17 at Northwestern State.

The Glenbrook girls team finished sixth and will be going to the state meet.

Emerson McLelland led Glenbrook with a 24th-place finish in 24:35.30. Mattison Fowler finished right behind her in 24:36.60.

Other Glenbrook runners in the scoring were Laurie Kilgore (30th, 25:01.90), Aria Killgore (31st, 25:04.40) and Emma Garner (34th, 26:03.80).

Anacoco’s Sophia Acevedo won in 19:20.30. Quitman, which placed four runners in the top nine, won the team title.
