Voters approve Webster Parish road millage renewals

by Minden Press-Herald

Voters in Webster Parish approved two road millage renewals in the November 15 election, extending existing funding for parish road work for another 10 years.

The Road District A renewal, a 2.65-mill property tax, passed with 70% in favor, or 678 votes for and 290 against. The unofficial turnout for the district was 6.1%.

The Road District B renewal, a 3.92-mill tax, was approved with 62% support, totaling 269 votes for and 163 against. Unofficial turnout in that district was 6.4%.

Both measures were renewals rather than new taxes, continuing revenue used by the Webster Parish Police Jury for road and infrastructure maintenance.

Local officials noted that participation in local elections often has the most direct impact on residents’ daily lives, from road conditions to parish services.
