Amy Lee, a special education facilitator, was recognized as December Employee of the Month during the Webster Parish School Board meeting held December 4 at Minden High School.
The award was presented by Kevin Thompson of Taylor and Sons in recognition of Lee’s work supporting early childhood special education programs across the district.
In a nomination letter, Lee was cited for her leadership and impact in a newly created district role. “Just seven years ago our district had only five specialty classes. Today, in response to growing student needs, that number has risen to 15,” the letter states. “Amy stepped into this newly created role in July and has already made a tremendous impact across our district.”
The nomination continued, “In a short time, Amy has established herself as a dynamic leader who is building capacity within our specialty in ECSE programs while providing hands-on support wherever it is needed.”
According to the letter, Lee assists with ensuring IEP compliance and placement of pre-K students with disabilities, models effective instructional practices, provides classroom coverage during staffing shortages, and records instructional videos to share with teachers and administrators. She has also helped develop professional development sessions for teachers and paraprofessionals.
“Having Amy on our district special education team has truly been a game changer,” the letter stated. “She is a doer, a problem solver, and a fixer who is always ready to support staff and students.”
The Webster Parish School Board’s next scheduled meeting will be Monday, January 12, 2026, at 6 PM at the school board offices.
