The Minden Main Street District reported gains in volunteer participation, job creation and investment during 2025, according to information released by Sarah Overall, director of economic development and Minden Main Street, as the district looks ahead to 2026.
Overall outlined more than 63 volunteer opportunities during the year, supporting community development initiatives and downtown events. Volunteers helped organize about 20 events in the historic district, including beautification projects and special gatherings.
Economic activity in the district included the creation of 24 full-time and 33 part-time jobs, driven in part by the opening of six new businesses. The district also recorded approximately $1.2 million in public and private investments, supporting infrastructure improvements and preservation projects in downtown Minden, which was established in 1836.
“With over 60 volunteer opportunities, the majority of that work has been carried by a small group of dedicated board members. Over the past two years, this district has experienced significant growth. To keep that momentum going, we need more community help and support. We encourage anyone who wants to be a part of this progress to sign up and serve on a committee as a volunteer,” Overall said.
Overall also acknowledged the role of public and private partners in the district’s progress.
“I am deeply thankful for our private business owners and building owners who recognize the importance of enhancing their properties and investing in themselves and our downtown. I am also grateful to our mayor, city council, and other city leaders who have played a crucial role in allocating public dollar investments into the heart of our city, our historic downtown,” she said.
Looking ahead, the district is encouraging continued participation from residents, business owners and investors.
“If you are a small business owner, developer, or investor, we invite you to join the conversation about how we can continue enhancing this remarkable district. Visitors are now coming from all over to experience our downtown. Together, let’s keep elevating it and capturing everyone’s attention,” Overall said.
