A tough week for the Minden Lady Tiders ended on a high note Friday night.
Minden rallied in the fourth quarter for a 46-43 District 1-4A victory over Bossier at Minden. The Lady Tiders started the week with district losses to North DeSoto and Booker T. Washington.
In the boys game, Mnden fell behind early and couldn’t rally against defending district champion Bossier, falling 71-53. The Bearkats (17-7, 4-0), No. 1 in the non-select Division II power rankings, are the only team in 1-4A without a district loss.
The Lady Tiders (15-11, 2-2) trailed 40-35 halfway through the fourth quarter. LeLe Johnson hit two big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one to get Minden within 40-38. She scored eight of her 10 points in the quarter.
The Lady Tiders tied the game at 40 with just under three minutes to play. After Bossier missed a 3-pointer, Minden took the lead for good with a layup near the one-minute mark. The Lady Tiders then got a steal. They missed a layup but retained possession.A free throw with 12.5 seconds left gave Minden the 46-43 lead.
Brooklyn Jefferson led the Lady Tiders with 15 points.
Minden visits defending champion Northwood (17-8, 4-1) Tuesday. Southwood (13-10, 3-0), which defeated Northwood 50-39 Friday, leads the district.
Gerald Richardson and Kameron Harris led the Crimson Tide (10-8, 1-2) with 18 points each. Minden trailed 17-10 after the first quarter. The Bearkats pulled away in the second, taking a 36-19 lead at the half.
In a District 1-3A girls game, North Webster defeated Bastrop 52-46 at Bastrop. The Lady Knights improved to 10-11 overall and 1-2 in district.
In other boys games Friday, North Webster fell to Bastrop 58-45 in a District 1-3A game at Bastrop, Glenbrook lost to Ringgold 73-54 in a District 1-1A game at Ringgold and Lakeside lost to Winnfield 62-32 in a District 3-2A game at Winnfield.
