Retirement: According to the dictionary, retirement is: “the action or fact of leaving one’s job and ceasing to work!
Retirement is not the end. It is the start of a new part of life. It’s a chance to rest, explore, and enjoy the little things that were often missed during busy workdays…However, for many, leaving the workplace can feel emotional or even difficult. After all, work is often a big part of one’s life. That’s why a warm message can really make a difference. Include one of these in a card, at the retirement party, or in a thoughtful phone call.
Here are some helpful messages to send to one who is retiring: (Reader’s Digest)
“Thanks for sharing your expertise, wisdom, and sense of humor with all of us. You will be greatly missed here.”
“I’ve enjoyed all of the time we’ve worked together, and I will really miss you. I hope you have a wonderful retirement.”
“Remembering all the good times we had working together and missing you already.”
“Feel free to come back and visit anytime—just bring chocolate with you!”
“Pro: You get to spend your time doing everything you’ve always wanted. Con: Now you have to make your own coffee. Seems fair.”
“Congrats on beating me to retirement!”
“Now, Sam, that you’re retired, it’s time to break out those hopes and dreams from our middle school yearbook. What would you like to do first: become president of the United States or kiss Sally?”
“I’m excited for all the new opportunities in your life. Happy retirement.”
“You are successful in everything you put your mind to, and I have no doubt that retirement will be just the same.”
These are just some suggestions, to make that retiree know you are thinking of them.
Have a great week, and come see us at the Webster Parish Council on Aging, and add a little bit more fun to your retirement!
