FETA offering after-hours certification testing

by Minden Press-Herald

BATON ROUGE (March 27, 2026) – The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy (FETA) announces after-hours Open Certification Testing, a key initiative aimed at increasing access and creating more opportunities for fire service personnel to complete required certifications. Evening testing options address scheduling challenges for working professionals while helping streamline the certification process statewide.

Beginning in April, testing will be offered at both of FETA’s campuses and four regional facilities, with sessions on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 5–7 p.m. and 7–9 p.m., respectively. This maximizes flexibility, increases overall testing capacity, and plays a critical role in reducing bottlenecks and wait times across Louisiana.

“We are committed to expanding access to certification while maintaining the high standards expected of our fire service professionals,” said DPS Principal Assistant, Chief Bryan J Adams. “By offering after-hours testing and increasing availability, we are reducing delays and better serving personnel statewide.”

“These improvements ensure a more streamlined and accessible certification system without compromising quality,” said FETA Superintendent Chief Tracey Normand. “Providing additional evening opportunities allows us to eliminate backlogs and deliver a more efficient and reliable pathway to certification.”
