NLTCC, TIC partner to offer Basic Construction Class in Homer

Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College, in partnership with TIC – The Industrial Company, will offer a Basic Construction Class beginning May 11 in Homer for adults seeking entry-level workforce training.

The short-term course is designed for individuals ages 18 and older who are ready to enter the construction field. Students who successfully complete the training will be guaranteed an interview with TIC, one of the largest construction and engineering companies in North America.

Classes will be held May 11 through June 5 at 3001 Minden Road in Homer. Instruction is scheduled Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 3 PM and Friday from 8 AM to noon. Students will need to provide their own transportation.

According to NLTCC, coursework will include basic construction skills and tools, NCCER Core curriculum, personal finance, safety fundamentals, teamwork, workplace readiness, and proper jobsite procedures.

Participants who earn the NCCER Core certification and successfully complete the interview process with TIC may be considered for entry-level positions with starting pay ranging from $18 to $20 per hour.

Scholarships are available to help cover tuition costs.
