Voting is now underway for the 2026 Pet Mayor Election, a fundraising campaign supporting plans for the new animal control facility for the City of Minden.
Community members can cast votes for participating pet candidates through online donations. Each $5 donation counts as one vote in the competition, with proceeds benefiting the animal control facility project.
The Pet Mayor Election, now in its second year, will be part of the city’s broader America 250th and Minden 190th anniversary celebration planned for June 11-13 in downtown Minden.
Winning animals will be named to honorary titles including Pet Mayor, Chief of Pawlice, Fur Chief, and council member positions during the Pet Mayor Collaring Ceremony scheduled for June 13.
City officials encouraged residents to support their favorite candidates by sharing the campaign with friends, family members, coworkers, and fellow pet owners.
Voting is available online through the 2026 Pet Mayor Election voting page which can be found on the City of Minden’s Facebook page.
