The Minden Tennis & Aquatic Club (MTAC) Stingrays turned in a strong performance Wednesday, June 3, at their home swim meet, finishing third in a competitive three-team event against Terri’s Swim Academy and the Stonebridge Swim Team.
Terri’s Swim Academy claimed the 1st place title with 1,047.5 points, while Stonebridge finished second with 414.5 points. The Stingrays were close behind in third place with 406 points.
Several MTAC swimmers delivered standout performances and helped lead the Stingrays throughout the meet. Camden Grubbs earned the team 21 points, while Lexi Barnett, 13, contributed 19 points. Maddox Snider and Brooks Boyd each scored 18 points, Emma Krazter added 15 points, and Corbin Toland and Stella Perryman each brought home 14 points.
Young Swimmers Shine
Among the youngest competitors, Reese Waller, 6, claimed first place in the Girls 6 & Under division with a time of 36.60 seconds in the 25-yard freestyle and 41.81 seconds in the 25-yard backstroke. In the Boys 6 & Under division, GW Rowton, 6, swept all three events, winning the 25 freestyle in 31.28 seconds, the 25 backstroke in 40.93 seconds and the 25 breaststroke in 43.03 seconds.
Madeline Fussell, 7, led the Girls 7-8 division with victories in the 25 freestyle (25.25), 50 freestyle (1:02.50) and 25 backstroke (29.10). ViviAnn Rainey, 8, added a first-place finish in the 25 breaststroke with a time of 42.66 seconds. On the boys’ side, Cash Smith, 8, captured the 25 freestyle in 22.64 seconds and the 25 backstroke in 27.00 seconds. Larkyn James, 8, won the 50 freestyle in 1:01.91, while Owen Humphrey, 7, and Levi Williams, 8, tied for first in the 25 breaststroke with identical times of 34.72 seconds.
The Girls 9-10 division featured standout performances from Stella Perryman, 10, who won the 25 backstroke in 23.62 seconds, the 25 breaststroke in 22.59 seconds and the 25 butterfly in 24.88 seconds. Vivienne Fussell, 10, topped the field in the 25 freestyle with a time of 18.53 seconds, while Everly Kate McGill, 10, won the 50 freestyle in 50.88 seconds. Brooks Boyd, 10, highlighted the Boys 9-10 division with victories in the 25 freestyle (19.03), 50 freestyle (48.62) and 25 butterfly (24.74). Eli Curley, 9, added wins in the 25 backstroke (34.31) and 25 breaststroke (34.32).
Cora Rodgers, 12, paced the Girls 11-12 division, winning the 50 freestyle in 36.34 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:31.31. Kynlee Dale, 12, took first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 51.09 seconds. Genevieve Dennin, 11, claimed victories in the 50 breaststroke (1:02.75) and 100 individual medley (2:27.98). For the boys, Corbin Toland, 11, won the 50 freestyle in 37.68 seconds, the 50 backstroke in 44.83 seconds and the 50 breaststroke in 52.60 seconds. Louie Kourvelas, 12, earned first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:51.69, while Christian Lemoine, 12, won the 50 butterfly in 54.50 seconds and the 100 individual medley in 1:48.41.
In the Girls 13-14 division, Lexi Barnett, 13, delivered a strong showing with wins in the 50 freestyle (34.38), 100 freestyle (1:20.58) and 100 individual medley (1:32.06). Emma Kratzer, 13, captured first place in both the 50 backstroke (41.34) and 50 butterfly (41.90), while Ella Stahl, 13, won the 50 breaststroke in 1:00.69. Dane Weaver, 14, topped the Boys 13-14 50 freestyle in 31.39 seconds. Maddox Snider, 13, earned victories in the 100 freestyle (1:03.22), 50 breaststroke (33.47) and 100 individual medley (1:07.87), breaking two club records! Sawyer Burson, 14, won the 50 backstroke in 48.22 seconds.
Grace Dennin, 16, dominated the Women 15-18 division, winning the 50 backstroke in 49.00 seconds, the 50 breaststroke in 54.81 seconds and the 100 individual medley in 1:48.81. Camden Grubbs, 15, swept the Men 15-18 events, taking first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.62 seconds, the 50 backstroke in 38.70 seconds and the 50 breaststroke in 43.19 seconds.

The Stingrays also received strong performances from Nettie Powell, Josh Allen, Jo Bordelon, Larkyn James, Titus Waller, Reece Snider, Channing Simmons, Gracelyn Pitman, Eli Curley, Nella Snider, Kynlee Dale, Gigi Barton, and Dane Weaver. MTAC wrapped up Week 2 with 45 personal best times! The Stingrays look to build on their success as the summer swim season continues.
