Webster Parish 4-H members are making their mark well beyond the parish, with one local youth helping Louisiana capture a national championship in shooting sports and four others stepping into statewide leadership roles.
Camryn Nail recently represented Louisiana at the 2026 National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she competed against 94 of the nation’s top shooters in the Air Rifle discipline.
Nail delivered a strong showing, placing 20th individually in 3-Position Air Rifle and helping her team finish fourth. She placed 11th individually in Standing Air Rifle, again helping her team finish fourth, and placed 17th individually in Silhouettes as her team earned second place.
Overall, Nail finished 17th in the nation individually, while her team placed third overall.
But the biggest achievement came as Nail and her Louisiana teammates captured the National Championship title, bringing home one of the highest honors available in 4-H Shooting Sports competition.
For Nail, the accomplishment caps years of hard work. She has been an active member of the Webster Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Club since elementary school, developing her shooting skills and leadership abilities throughout her 4-H career.
The Webster Parish 4-H program said it is especially proud of Nail’s accomplishment and the way she represented Webster Parish, Louisiana, and the 4-H organization on the national stage.
Her success also provides an example for younger 4-H members of what can come from dedication, perseverance, and participation in youth programs.
Webster Parish 4-H members also are stepping into leadership roles that will allow them to represent youth across Louisiana.
Preston Coleman, Hayden Gregg, and Emmersyn Demmon have been selected as Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassadors. As ambassadors, they will represent the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Program, assist with educational and promotional activities, and serve as role models for younger shooting sports members across the state.
Mallory Coleman has been selected to serve on the Louisiana 4-H Citizenship Board. The board develops educational programs and opportunities designed to help youth build social, leadership, and emotional skills while encouraging active citizenship and community involvement.
The appointments are a significant honor for the four Webster Parish youth and will give them opportunities to work with other outstanding 4-H members from throughout Louisiana to strengthen and promote 4-H programs.
Together, the accomplishments highlight a strong year for Webster Parish 4-H — from Nail’s trip to the national stage and a championship title to the selection of four local youth for statewide leadership positions.
