A Minden man faces a felony domestic abuse battery charge after a family dispute outside a Shreveport Road business allegedly escalated into a physical altercation that left one person with a possible broken or dislocated shoulder.
Benjamin Ware, 47, of Minden, was arrested September 15 on one count of domestic abuse battery with serious bodily injury, according to a Minden Police Department report.
Officers were initially dispatched to Minden Medical Center in reference to a disturbance that had occurred in the 1100 block of Shreveport Road.
The victim told police that he and Ware had gotten into an argument at approximately 1:30 PM over his and his sister’s desire to quit working at a restaurant. According to the report, the victim went outside as his sister was attempting to leave.
Ware allegedly ran around a vehicle and punched the victim in the face with a closed fist. A physical altercation followed, during which the victim was reportedly thrown to the ground.
The victim left the scene and went to Minden Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his right shoulder as well as scrapes to his hands, wrist, and elbow. Medical personnel advised police that the shoulder was possibly dislocated or broken.
Officers then went to the Shreveport Road location and made contact with Ware, who showed them video of the incident.
According to police, the video showed Ware running around a vehicle and punching the victim in the face with a closed fist. Police said the recording also showed the ensuing altercation and Ware throwing the victim to the ground, resulting in the shoulder injury.
Ware was taken into custody and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking on the felony charge.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
