A coalition of Minden-area civic and community organizations will host a nonpartisan “Meet the Candidates” forum Thursday, October 1, giving voters an opportunity to meet candidates appearing on the November 3 election ballot.
The free event will begin at 6 PM at Mt. Zion CME Church, 414 E. Union St. in Minden. Invitations have been extended to all qualifying local, parish, and state candidates.
The November 3 election includes federal, state, and local races. Any races requiring an additional election will proceed to the December 12 election.
The evening will begin with an informal meet-and-greet, during which candidates may set up individual tables, speak directly with voters, and distribute campaign literature and signs.
Following the reception, candidates will move into a structured portion of the program. Each participating candidate will be given two minutes to introduce themselves and discuss their platform and vision for the community.
The event is intended to encourage civic participation and provide residents with an opportunity to interact directly with those seeking public office.
Participating organizations include the Minden Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Gamma Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Iota Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Claiborne #6053, Minden-Webster #6067-B, and Ringgold #6075-R.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., which is participating in the event, stated that the organization is nonpartisan and does not endorse individual candidates or political parties.
