The Glenbrook Apaches fell to undefeated Cedar Creek 35-15 in a District 1-1A game Friday night in Ruston.

Glenbrook dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in district. Cedar Creek, ranked No. 9 in the LSWA Class 1A poll, improved to 7-0 and 1-0.

The Apaches were very much in the game at the half. With Glenbrook trailing 14-0, Braxton Tibbitt completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Carson Powell with 4:06 left in the second quarter. Louie Collins scored a two-point conversion.

The first half ended with the score 14-8 and the Apaches went into the locker room with some momentum.

It didn’t last long. Glenbrook received the second-half kickoff but was forced to punt after three plays.

Cedar Creek then drove 81 yards in 13 plays, all on the ground, for a touchdown and a 21-8 lead.

As they have throughout the season, turnovers hurt the Apaches. The Cougars returned a fumble near midfield for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Cedar Creek’s final touchdown came after the Cougars recovered a fumble on a sack at the Glenbrook 20.

Glenbrook’s Ryan Reagan scored the game’s final touchdown on a long run late in the fourth quarter.

The game lasted only about two hours. Cedar Creek only attempted two passes and completed one. Glenbrook had the ball only four plays in the third quarter.

Remarkably, Cedar Creek had only one penalty and that was offsides on the Glenbrook’s two-point conversion attempt.

Glenbrook didn’t have many but one changed the momentum early in the game.

Cedar Creek took the opening kickoff and drove deep into Apaches territory. On fourth-and-4 from the 7, Glenbrook stopped the Cougars short of a first down. But a late flag was thrown and a grasping the facemask penalty was called on the Apaches, according to the KASO-AM broadcast.

The Cougars still faced a fourth-and-1 but they scored on a short run.

The score remained 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Cedar Creek’s second touchdown came on a 59-yard drive capped by a 6-yard run with 8:59 left in the second quarter.

Glenbrook’s Davis Edwards almost intercepted a lateral later in the quarter. The Apaches recovered the fumble at the Cougars 19, setting up Tibbit’s touchdown pass to Powell.

Glenbrook hosts Northwood-Lena in a non-district game Friday. The Gators (2-4) had a bye in Week 7.
