Knights dominate Redskins at home, 66-8

by Minden Press-Herald

SPRINGHILL – It was plenty of fun to be a North Webster Knight on Friday. Not so much if you were a cheering for Ringgold.

The Knights were at home Friday looking to get back on track following a tough loss to Natchitoches Central last week. They did just that in a 66-8 romping of Ringgold in Springhill.

Knights head coach John Ware was pleased to see his team take care of business in a game where his team just outclassed the opposition.

“Our guys just came out and did what they were supposed to do,” Ware said. “We jumped on them early with a kickoff returned for a touchdown by Wesley Franklin.”

From there North Webster only got it rolling even more.

“Michael Morse intercepted a pass and took it back all the way,” Ware said. “I think three plays later we had got the ball back and Devin took it in from the 40. It was 21-0 after about four minutes.”

It was just the type of start Ware was looking for from his team. Despite the impressive showing, he said his team still has plenty they can improve.

“We still are making some mistakes,” Ware said. “We improved a lot of things from the first week but you have to keep getting better.”

North Webster’s next opponent will be Delhi High School on the road.

It’s another test and another passing attack that will test the Knights defense.

“We don’t know just a whole lot about them right this moment,” Ware said, “We know they’re a passing team and they’re going to throw it. It’s another long bus ride, about two and a half or three hours. Its another good test for us against that type of team. We made a bunch of mistakes early in the season that we’re trying to clean up.”
