A man located at an abandoned residence was arrested on charges of criminal trespass and possession of synthetic marijuana when they reportedly located suspected drugs on him at police headquarters.

Kelvin Gipson, 35, of the 400 block of Wright Drive, was reportedly at an abandoned residence on Milton Drive that did not belong to him, and he did not have permission to be on the property, according to the police report.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says once he was placed under arrest, he was transported to police headquarters.

“Once they got him here and did a pat down, they located suspected synthetic marijuana,” he said. “Then he kept advising that his name was Jason Gibson, which was not correct. His middle name is Jason, and he was misspelling his last name. He was trying to conceal his identity because he had three active bench warrants through us.”

Gipson was charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility, misrepresentation during booking, possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance (synthetic marijuana), criminal trespass and the three bench warrants.

He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
