A call to a possible altercation led to the arrest of a man on multiple drug charges.
Minden Police were dispatched to a parking lot on Homer Road in reference to a man and woman arguing. Upon arrival, the vehicle with the two occupants left the parking lot, reportedly failing to stop at the stop sign and use a turn signal. Police said the vehicle crossed five lanes of traffic headed northbound on Homer Road and was later stopped at the intersection of Homer Road and Highway 531.
The driver was identified as Kevin A. Terrel, 48, of the 1000 block of Almond Circle. When Officer First Class Chris Hammontree made contact with Terral, he appeared to
be under the influence of a stimulant, according to the arrest report.
A check revealed Terrel’s license was suspended, and Terral reportedly told the officer the vehicle did not have insurance. He was taken into custody at the scene.
A search of the vehicle by Lt. Wayne Young revealed a Crown Royal bag underneath the center console, and inside were several coins, a woman’s broach and keys. A small gray bag was also located inside which contained a brownish glass bottle. Inside the bottle was a yellow pill, later identified as acetaminophen/hydrocodone, police said.
A small tin container was also identified containing three white rocks, which appeared to be consistent with crack cocaine and a partial marijuana (natural) cigarette. Police said the rocks field-tested positive for cocaine.
All evidence was photographed and taken into evidence, according to the report.
During an interview with Terrel, he reportedly denied knowledge of the drugs, but during a voluntary statement, he later admitted the drugs belonged to him, and the passenger had no knowledge of the drugs. She was later released with no charges.
Terrel was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, possession of hydrocodone, driving under suspension, no insurance and improper turn.
