Caney lake to be drawn down

by Minden Press-Herald

Beginning today, the Caney Ranger District of the Kisatchie National Forest will temporarily draw down 2 to 4 feet of the lower lake at the Caney Lakes Recreation Area near Minden, according to a press release from the USDA Forest Service.

The lower lake level will allow the Forest Service to conduct necessary maintenance. Boaters should use additional caution with the lower lake level.

“Caney Lakes Recreation Area, located north of Minden in Webster Parish, offers opportunities in hiking, bicycling, picnicking, camping, boating, swimming, water skiing, hunting, and fishing,” the release said.

“The lakes total 350 acres and provide residents in northwestern Louisiana a beautiful place to recreate.”
