D’Arbonne Woods 6
Doyline took the lead late and defeated D’Arbonne Woods 8-6 on Thursday in the Bistineau Classic at Lakeside.
In the first inning, the Panthers got their offense started when Hayden Engel singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Doyline (6-2) evened things up at three in the top of the fourth inning. Jacob Corke’s sac fly scored one run for Doyline Panthers Varsity.
The game was tied at three with Doyline batting in the top of the fifth when Josh Longstreth was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
The Panthers notched three more runs in the sixth inning. Trey Ware had an RBI single in the inning.
Jeremy Miller was credited with the victory for Doyline. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and walking one.
Hunter Carter, Longstreth, and Ware all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Ware recorded the last out to earn the save for Doyline.
North Webster 7
DeRidder 3
The game was tied at three with North Webster batting in the top of the eighth when the Knights rattled off four runs to win the game in extra innings.
North Webster fell behind 3-0 early, but evened things up in the top of the sixth inning. An error scored one run for the Knights.
Kade Garmany took the win for the Knights. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out two.
Sawyer Howard started the game for the Knights. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one.
North Webster (7-3) racked up 13 hits on the day. Garmany, Roc Hawthorne, Conner Audirsch, and Jordan Nelson each had multiple hits for North Webster. Garmany led the Knights with three hits.
North Webster plays today against Oak Grove at 5:30 p.m. in Springhill.
Sterlington 4,
Minden 1
Minden fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 4-1 loss to Sterlington on Thursday in the Bistineau Classic.
Sterlington scored on a groundout by Kyle Elee and a groundout by Parker Coley in the second inning.
John Volentine took the loss for Minden.
He allowed eight hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out four with no walks.
Camron Dollar went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Minden and continued his scorching start to the season.
Dollar is batting .650 through seven games with eight RBIs.
Minden falls to 5-2 this season and will play at Lakeside twice tonight. First they play Doyline at 5 p.m. and then against Lakeside at 7 p.m.
Cedar Creek 9,
Lakeside 1
The Warriors gave up a four-run fourth inning after leading 1-0 through the first half of the game.
Cedar Creek scored four more runs in the seventh inning to polish things off.
Nathan Willis took the loss for Lakeside Warriors Varsity.
He went six and a third innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits and striking out five.
Grayson Lamar, Michael Watts, and Bradley Dick each collected one hit to lead Lakeside Warriors Varsity.
The Warriors fall to 3-6 this season and play Doyline today at 3:30 p.m. before taking on the Crimson Tide at 7 p.m. at in Sibley.
