Claiborne Electric prepares for 2019 Annual Meeting in Ruston

by Minden Press-Herald

Claiborne Electric Cooperative members are invited to the 2019 Annual Membership Meeting held April 27 at Louisiana Tech’s Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston.

Doors open for registration at 9 a.m. This year’s meeting is themed “Focused on the Future.” The meeting will have something for everyone in the family, and one lucky member will win the grand prize – a new Kawasaki Mule 4×4 utility vehicle.

The Kawasaki Mule was designed to carry 400 pounds in its tilting cargo bed with tailgate latches. With an optional towing hitch, the utility vehicle can tow up to 1,100 pounds. The Mule can be driven up to 25 miles per hour and features off-road capability.

At 10:30 a.m., members will hear a performance by nationally acclaimed acoustic group Darin and Brooke Aldridge.

“Every year, our members let us know that they enjoy the wholesome, family-friendly entertainment we provide at the Annual Meeting,” Claiborne Electric General Manager and CEO Mark Brown said. “Some of the most popular acts we have hosted in the last several years have been acoustic groups, so we believe Darin and Brooke Aldridge and their band will do a great job for our members.”

The husband and wife Aldridge duo draw on the traditions of their native North Carolina and the savvy talents of a young, gifted band. Both highly acclaimed vocalists, they combine rich harmonies and musicianship to create the sound that has made them one of the most popular young acts in acoustic music. They’ve surrounded themselves with a band of quality musicians. Darin spent six years as a member of the Country Gentlemen and is a highly sought-after multi-instrumentalist. Brooke has been lauded for having one of the most powerful voices in music of any genre. She is the reigning International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year.

Members attending the Annual Meeting will receive a registration gift, breakfast provided by the Co-op, and the chance to win one of several door prizes. Several kids in attendance will win a bicycle. Each Co-op member has been mailed an Official Registration Card, printed on an oversized postcard. Members who present their postcard during registration will be entered into a drawing for a $500 cash card. During registration, photo identification must be presented by the primary member listed on the account.

Members may register until the business meeting begins at noon. During the business meeting, members will hear an update on the state of the Co-op. The business meeting will also include drawings for two college scholarships, all door prizes, and the grand prize. Members must be present to win prizes.

Details about the meeting can be read in the Annual Report, which was mailed to members inside April’s edition of Louisiana Country.

The Annual Meeting is an event exclusively for the members of Claiborne Electric Cooperative. Members with questions can contact the Co-op at 927-3504 or 368-3011.
