Since December 11, 2013 when Morris Guin, Webster Parish Assessor, first announced that he was reducing the property taxes dedicated to the Webster Parish Assessor’s Office operations by ½ million dollars and passing the tax savings on to Webster Parish property owners, Guin has continued to improve efficiencies in the Webster Parish Assessor’s office.
In 2015 (2nd tax reduction) and again in 2017 (3rd tax reduction) Guin returned ½ million dollars each year to Webster Parish property owners through reduced property taxes dedicated to the Webster Parish Assessor’s Office operations.
“In today’s environment, when tax increases are often proposed as a quick solution to solving our National and State problems, I continue to carefully manage the taxes allocated to my office,” Guin said. “This allows me to announce today that since I was elected to the office of Webster Parish Assessor in 2011, I am instituting the fourth (4th) reduction in property taxes that are dedicated to the Assessor’s Office in the amount of ½ million dollars ($500,000) for a total of 2 million dollars in property tax reductions that my office has provided to Webster Parish property owners since I was elected as Webster Parish Assessor in 2011.”
According to Guin, the 2 million dollars ($2,000,000) in property tax reductions were achieved by significantly increasing the Assessor’s Office operating efficiency and reducing operating expenses while improving services to constituents.
“We will continue to be good stewards of the funds that are received for operating the Assessor’s Office by striving to continually improve our efficiency in operations and effectiveness in serving our Webster Parish citizens,” Guin concluded, “Serving our citizens with the utmost courtesy in a timely, technically proficient manner is our number one priority.”
