Celebration of Life Services for Kendrick Deon Nelson will be held Saturday, June 8th at 11:00 A.M. at the New Light Baptist Church with Rev. George Washington, officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Athens Cemetery.
Kendrick Deon Nelson was born on June 15, 1976 to Priscilla Nelson and Robert Halbert, Jr.
He graduated from Minden High School class of 1996. He worked at Dixie Paper for 10+ years.
He united in holy matrimony to LaTisha Curry on February 14, 2004. Together, they raised four daughters, Trisherica, Antawanna, LaDerricka, and Shakendra.
He was currently employed by Statewide Transport. “K-Dogg” truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures—laughing and joking, chatting, spending time with family and friends, snacking, and just generally having a good time! He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a positive way. He had a nickname for everybody and was loved by everyone!
Kendrick departed this earthly life on May 28, 2019. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Halbert, Sr. and Ethel Jean Cosby Powell; uncles, Chuck Whiting and Gus Whiting.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, LaTisha Nelson; daughters, Trisherica May (Aaron), Antawanna Curry, LaDerricka Curry, and Shakendra Nelson; parents, Priscilla Nelson and Robert Halbert, Jr.; three grandchildren, A’yanna Curry, Aaydon May, Ziriyah Jackson; two brothers, Keith Halbert (Chasity), Diangelo Marcel (Trunda); grandparents, Rodney & Gracie Nelson; aunts, Jacqueline Adams (Adell), Dedra Quarles (Rodney), TeShelia Gill (Shondell), Gloria Shyne, Eula Whiting, Mickey Taylor, Jeanette Whiting; uncles, Rodney Nelson, Jr. (Frankie), Tonkon Williams; great aunt, Marrilyn McCray; great uncles, Larry McCray, Curlie McCray; a host of other relatives,
