Brian Williams, Director of the Webster Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, provided this update regarding Hurricane Delta and how it will impact Webster Parish on its path north.
“Hurricane Delta will make landfall at or just east of the location Hurricane Laura made landfall in August. Currently, Delta is a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 115 mph moving north/northeast at 13 mph. It will weaken as it makes landfall and continues to weaken as it moves inland,” said Williams.
“The rain locally will increase this afternoon into Saturday morning. Rainfall totals are still expected to be 2-4 inches overall. There is currently no Flash Flood Watch or Warning for Webster parish.”
“Bayou Dorcheat near Springhill is expected to enter a minor flood stage tomorrow. We could potentially see wind gusts up to 40 mph with 15-25 mph sustained winds which will likely cause downed trees and power lines arriving after 7:00 p.m. today.”
