STONEWALL – The Minden Crimson Tiders made the hour long trip to North DeSoto Tuesday night for a gut-check game against the Griffins.
In what was a must win game for the Tide, they played much better than they did in last Friday’s home loss to Loyola, and the result was a 75-59 win to keep them in the hunt for district and the postseason.
“I was pleased with the effort tonight,” head coach Alan Shaw said. “We gave the type of effort it takes every night to win in this district. I’m not so sure we executed much better than Friday, but the effort made the difference.”

The Tide has been struggling offensively as of late, so it was important to come out on fire defensively.
“Our defense was able to make some plays,” Shaw said. “We were able to make some plays and get some fast break opportunities that really opened the game up for us. The guys really stepped up tonight.”
Kevin Hamilton led the Tide with 24 points, getting back on track after a couple of low scoring games. L’Jarius Sneed had a big game going for 16 points and Anfernee Red finished with 10.
Minden will be back in action Friday when they travel to face Huntington.
Lady Tiders

On the road against a good North DeSoto team, the girls dug deep, trading runs with the Lady Griffins all night.
“I thought overall tonight we played pretty well,” head coach Jacob Brown said. “We did a good job of working to get high percentage shots and our defense made things happen.”
The Lady Tiders got out to a big first quarter lead before North DeSoto stormed back to take the lead at halftime.
In the third quarter the Lady Tiders made a run of their own to take the lead and were able to keep the Griffins down the rest of they way.
“I’m very pleased with the road win,” Brown said. “We fought through some rough patches tonight to get the win and I’m proud of the girls.”

“North Caddo basically controlled the game from the first quarter,” Warriors head coach Jason Gould said. “They did it without one of their best players too. They’re just a really good team.”
Frankie Miles was the bright spot for Lakeside, scoring 18 points, followed by Davian Whiting with 9 and Quatarus Solomon with 8.
Lady Warriors
The Lakeside Lady Warriors were defeated by the Lady Indians, 66-30.
“North Caddo is a very good basketball team,” Lady Warrior head coach Tavasha Anderson said. “They’re very well coached and they started the game off going to the rim efficiently. We had a tough time keeping them out of the paint all night.”

The Warriors and Lady Warriors will be back on the court Friday at Lakeview.
Glenbrook Apaches
The Glenbrook Apaches dropped a home game to the district leading Riverfield Raiders, 63-33.
The Apaches trailed 30-17 at the half, before Riverfield came out in the third quarter on fire ending any hope of a close contest.
“I really thought we would come out and make a run at them,” Apache head coach Jeff Dalton said. “Instead they came out fast and outscored us 23-9 in the third.”
Dalton hopes this game will serve as a wake up call to his team.
“We must play every possession with a sense of urgency,” Dalton said.
Caden Copeland led the team with 8 points and Garrett Sanders added 7.
Glenbrook’s next game will be Thursday, Jan. 29 at River Oaks in Monroe.
Lady Apaches
The Glenbrook Lady Apaches defeated the Lady Raiders in a thrilling overtime game, 43-38.
It was the Lady Apaches’ biggest win of the season, as it seems the team is peaking at just the right time.
“The girls played the way I knew they were capable of all season,” head coach Rendi Dillard said. “Defensively, we were strong and on offense we were driving the ball and taking it to the rim.”
Riverfield is in first place in district, which signifies what the Lady Apaches are capable of going forward.
“It all clicked tonight,” Dillard said. “This win gives us great momentum going into the postseason.”
